Which Witch is the Witchiest? (Character Study)

Learn how to write unexpected characters who jump off the page!

In this lesson, we'll write about a Halloween—and year-round—favorite. The Witch!

It's very important that you take the steps one at a time, and don't go out of order.


STEP ONE

Put on some spooky music to get in the groove.


STEP TWO

Get out a piece of paper and write a paragraph or two about him or her on a piece of paper. Draw a picture for added inspiration!

STEP THREE

Now that you have a few tips on how to write memorable characters, try writing about your witch again.


STEP FOUR

Reflect on your two witches, and free-write for ten minutes. How are they different? How are they similar? What are some unexpected traits of your second witch? What does your second witch want? Do you think he or she will get it? What secrets does your second witch hold close to his or her heart? What kind of story would your second witch "live" in? If you're feeling up to the challenge...write it now!
